This is a common site in UB. There are people who earn their living sweeping the street. They sweep the dirt and trash into a pile and the shovel it into the trash can. In the winter they sweep up the snow and shovel it into the trash can. If these streets weren't swept every day it the dirt and trash would envelope the city. They perform an immense service.
