The hotel was heated with coal. The heat was only turned on between 7AM-12noon and from 7PM-midnight. Hot water was only available then as well. This man would fill the little cart with coal and then put it down the shoot that was under our room. We got a little hot water, but not much. President and Sister Clark had a very nice room but they didn't get any hot water the first day. The little man would bring out the ash and clinkers and put them on top of the trash that was dumped in the back yard of the hotel.
