This is Nessa, our translator, on the right with her cousin and aunt. Nessa called and said
that her aunt had a friend who had a brother who was an alcoholic and she wanted to know about the addiction recovery class that we taught. (Actually we don't teach it we go and listen through a translator and Elder Ford opens and closes the meeting through a translator. I teach English to the children who come with their parents.) Anyway, we thought they were coming to the church but when we got there she said we were going to her aunt's house. So we got in a cab. When we got there I could feel the spirit. Nessa's aunt (I can't remember or pronounce her name) is the RS president in her ward. The cousin is the Elder's Quorum president and her husband is on the High Council. They have been members for 13 years. Her husband was an alcohol and she has a strong testimony on how the Church can change lives. Her friend came along with her sister-in-law and her five children. Nessa's aunt bore testimony to them of the gospel (mind this she had never met them before). I was in shock. We would never do that but here "Be not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ" is a living thing. After she fed us a lovely dinner. Just as we were about to leave the alcoholic brother/father showed up. It is so sad that addictions take over our lives. It is devastating not just to the addicted one but to the entire family. We had a short visit and then left feeling grateful for wonderful people who live the gospel everywhere.
